I had a nice talk with father last night . . . . He uttered a respect-able assertion of the reason for Art -- That Art (poetry, music, painting etc.) is in truth the noblest and most necessary occupation for man, being an utterance of the aspirations and strivings of all mankind towards the Ideal.
